Dr. Shelby Pollitt is the Literacy Coordinator in the Sooke School District who has recently completed her PhD in Educational Psychology at the University of Victoria, studying the implementation of effective, evidence-aligned reading instruction and intervention. Shelby loves learning and believes that through collaborative professional learning and mentorship we can further develop our collective promising practices and systems for assessment and responsive instruction to support foundational literacy skill development for all learners.
Deanna is a Literacy Intervention and Inclusion Support Teacher in Victoria, BC. She is passionate about teaching reading to students who identify as neurodiverse and believes that all students should be given the opportunity to learn to read. Deanna has a master’s degree in Literacy Education from Queen’s University.
